Jet Propulsion Laboratory Archives: Research Requests

Guide for accessing all types of materials in the JPL Archives.

Please fill out the Application for Access to Archival Material.

If the submit button doesn’t launch your email application, save the PDF to your desktop and then email to archives@jpl.nasa.gov. 

Most requests from the public must be submitted as Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests. Please contact the Reference Desk first, and you will be notified if a FOIA request is necessary. For more information about the FOIA process, please see the JPL FOIA web page, contact the Library Reference Desk at 818-354-4200 or email archives@jpl.nasa.gov.

Are you looking to know more about a family member that used to work at JPL?

Please provide us as much information as possible:

  • Name - *The name they worked under. This is especially important for women.
  • Dates of Employment
  • Whether they were JPL or a subcontractor - *If they were a subcontractor, you may be directed to contact that entity.
  • Whether they worked at JPL or Caltech and what type of work they performed - *If they were located at Caltech, you may be referred to the Caltech Archives.
