What is BEACON Express?
BEACON Express is an online request system to automate document delivery and the interlibrary loan process. You can request journal articles and meeting papers; regardless of whether the JPL Library subscribes to the journal or not. You can also request to borrow books from other libraries, or request to purchase books as your "desk copies" using a project/task number.
Who can use BEACON Express?
JPL employees, interns, on-site contractors, and affiliates. BEACON Express uses Single Sign-On (SSO) for authentication, so there is no need to register.
1. Navigate to BEACON Express. You should be redirected to the JPL Single Sign-On login page if not already logged in.
2. From the BEACON Express homepage, click the "REQUESTED" tab and click "CREATE REQUEST"
3. Click on either "ARTICLE", "BOOK LOAN", or "PURCHASE".
Article
Use this option to request copies of referenced journal articles, book chapters, or meeting papers.
Book Loan
Use to borrow material from the JPL Library or from another library via interlibrary loan. If the book is coming from another library, it needs to be picked up from the Library Service Desk inside the Library (111-104).
Enter as much information about the item as possible. Required fields are marked with asterisks. Use the "Where did you learn about this item?" to provide additional information if needed.
Purchase
The JPL Library is the "control point" for JPLers and JPL organizations wanting to make book purchases, including eBooks, audio books, conference proceedings, digital media, etc.
If you wish to have a purchased book delivered to your home address, please send an email to Beth Daruthayan.
If you prefer to have the book delivered to your office:
