G-Cubed becoming Open Access in January 2022

The American Geophysical Union (AGU) announced that its journal Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems will be open access on January 1, 2022. This means everyone will be able to read the content from this journal. On the other hand, for authors who publish in it, there will be Article Processing Charges (APC) involved. Here is the announcement from AGU:

AGU is excited to announce that our journal Geochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, publishing research on the chemistry, physics, geology and biology of Earth and planetary processes will be open access on 1 January 2022.

As a part of our mission, AGU is focused on making science available to the widest possible audience. By making G-Cubed open access, AGU will ensure that researchers worldwide have access to the important research it publishes.

AGU is also pleased to announce that starting 9 July 2021, we will eliminate excess page fees for all open access journals and for authors who purchase an open access license in our other journals. Article publication charges for open access will be increased slightly to cover all costs, but there will now be one flat fee for open access and remove the need for a second invoice during article production.

We have provided additional details about the G-Cubed move to open access and the elimination of excess page fees for open access journals in a From the Prow blog post and FAQs.

As an important member of the AGU community, we are grateful for your continued support and the quality research articles you submit. We rely on our editors to maintain the quality of AGU journals by generously volunteering their expertise and time. Currently, we have two Editor in Chief positions open. We encourage you to apply to serve or recommend a colleague.
