JPL Library Return to Lab FAQ: Starting May 9

  • What are the hours of the Library/Hub?
    JPL badge holders have 24-hour access to the Library/Hub and are able to access the library stacks to grab books/materials to check out 24/7.
  • What are the hours of the Library Services Desk?
    The Library Services Desk Hours starting May 9 will be: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. (closed RDO Fridays). Additionally, assistance is available via library email, Slack and telephone. Contact library@jpl.nasa.gov for assistance, #help-library on Slack, or call 818-354-4200.
  • Can I return books if there is no one at the Library Service Desk?
    Yes: Just put your books in the book drop at the Library Services Desk. Staff will check in the material when they are on Lab.
  • I have several books in my office, can I send them over? If so, how?
    Yes. You can return them by putting them in the library book drop at the library services desk in 111-104 or send them via interoffice mail to: Library M/S 111-113. If you have many, box them up and have transportation bring them to 111-113 using https://tss.jpl.nasa.gov/login/.
  • I have library books at home, and I don't plan on coming to Lab soon - how do I return them?
    You may mail them back to the library, or continue to renew as long as there isn’t a hold on the item(s). Email them to renew: library@jpl.nasa.gov.

  • Can I check out books if there is no one at the Library Service Desk?
    Yes. Please email the library: library@jpl.nasa.gov, with either a picture of the barcode inside the book(s), or type out the barcodes and titles if you prefer. Library staff will check them out to you and send you a confirmation email.
  • What are the hours of Tech Cafe (ManTech Help Desk)?
    8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday (closed RDO Fridays). Appointments: To schedule an appointment for Tech Cafe support, visit the JPL IT Self Scheduling page.
  • How do I contact the Library for more questions and support?
    Email the library: Library@jpl.nasa.gov or reach out on Slack: #help-library or call 818-354-4200.
